About The Good Times Dixie Crew

The Good Times Dixie Crew is a traditional style jazz band located in Northwest Indiana.

The ensemble is inspired by and plays early jazz, ragtime and blues music from the 1910’s through the 1930’s.

We are dedicated to the sounds of New Orleans and Chicago style blues/jazz.

New Orleans music from the 1920s emphasized the heavy influence of marching bands in its square rhythm and in its ensemble focus.

The Chicago style incorporated more blues trademarks: the music emphasized the second and fourth beats (the offbeats) in each measure, and the soloist came to the fore.

Good Times Dixie Crew mixes both styles but leans toward the Chicago Style

We are available for indoor and outdoor venues in primarily - but not limited to - Lake, LaPorte, and Porter counties.
